And remember to make it a regular habit to update your backups regularly. Backing up your emails is a smart way to protect your important data from loss or damage.  Here’s how to back up your emails to a separate hard drive or cloud space:

How To Back Up Emails on Gmail:
  1. Open Gmail and go to Settings.
  2. Click on the “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” tab.
  3. Under “IMAP Access”, make sure that “Enable IMAP” is checked.
  4. Save the changes and close the settings.
  5. Download and install an email client that supports IMAP, such as Thunderbird or Outlook.
  6. Open the email client and add your Gmail account as an IMAP account.
  7. Wait for the emails to synch to the email client.
  8. Export the emails from the email client to your external hard drive or cloud storage.
Backing Up Emails on Outlook:
  1. Open Outlook and go to the File tab.
  2. Click on “Options” and then “Advanced”.
  3. Under “Export”, click on “Export”.
  4. Select “Export to a file” and then click “Next”.
  5. Choose “Outlook Data File (.pst)” and then click “Next”.
  6. Select the email account you want to export and choose the location where you want to save the backup file.
  7. Click “Finish” to start the export process.
How To Back Up Emails on Apple Mail:
  1. Open Apple Mail and go to the Mailbox menu.
  2. Choose “Export Mailbox”.
  3. Select the mailbox you want to export and select the location where you want to save the backup file.
  4. Click “Choose” to start the export process.
