Content in July

I did it! I made a TikTok!

This was heavy on my mind for 11 months. Content in July was the month I decided to try something new and made a TikTok. When starting a blog the idea is to get the message out to others who might find the information we provide helpful. Without going into Ads on social media platforms, the best way is to create “organic content” on those social media platforms. My opinions on the social platforms below are my own, want to make that clear.

Understanding that if you want to grow you will have to create more, post more, and interact more with these platforms even if they are not your favorite.

Content on Social Media Platforms

Instagram

When the merger to Meta occurred I lost the enchantment of IG. That was a personal choice, I went private and that was the end. But for Curating Edits I knew I had to make peace with it and participate. Curating Edits is still there but I go on the least amount of all. Having to do so many different things with the same content all on one platform, to get SOME views is too much for me.

Twitter

Twitter was easy to use for Curating Edits because the majority of the content is book reviews, it’s easy to reach book lovers that way, and it works. Curating Edits gets a lot of views from Twitter posts and I get to follow a lot of the publishing companies and authors. The communication and interaction are more one-on-one which works for me.

Pinterest

My favorite social media platform! I like a visual, a picture, to be more exact. With Pinterest, it is easy to get our posts seen and there is interaction. Your visual gets saved, or they click through on the link. It’s more instant. I enjoy making the pins visually appealing because before they read what you have to say, they are clicking on the picture.

TikTok

That’s the beast I overcame this month. I have made two TikToks. In the first video, I could safely say I attempted it more than 5 times to overcome the nervousness. My hats off to the people who are constantly putting out video content. With this method, I immediately saw a spike in visitors to Curating Edits which is what we want of course. The more people out there, the more books we can recommend or even provide other useful things to them, like TV Shows, Podcasts, etc. all the things we do here.

Now You…

Do you use social media platforms to lead people to your website? Which is your favorite? Did you find any of them hard at first? How consistent are you? Let me know.
