“Uncoupled” starring Neil Patrick Harris, Tisha Campbell, and more. Episode Count 8 Season 1 Neil Patrick Harris’s character Michael Lawson gets the worst surprise, with the sudden ending of a 17-year relationship. Michael goes through the steps of grieving this breakup. With an incredible sidekick “work wife” Suzanne (Tisha Campbell) and two very different besties Billy Burns (Emerson Brooks) and Stanley (Brooks Ashmanskas), will Michael ever move on? As Michael is healing and dealing with the breakup, from the sudden heartbreak, going to couples therapy, to getting back into the “dating scene”, and the different personalities he meets along the way. Suzanne, Stanley, and Billy are going through their journey in “Uncoupled”. Their storylines were very meaningful and you are rooting for them as strongly as you would for Michael. Suzanne Prentiss is a fun-loving, single mom, working in real estate and Michael’s business partner. Billy Burns is the celebrity weatherman who is always dating never settling. His other BFF, Stanley James is an art dealer who has the biggest heart and no luck in love.
Review
Episode 8 left me crying, shocked, and clutching imaginary pearls. And now we are left waiting for Season 2. The cliffhangers had me looking around to see who I had to shake to get some answers. I’m looking at you Netflix! Great show to watch with a group of friends or snuggled, alone, with a soft blanket and a tissue box. Be prepared, I binged the entire season, for that to happen.
After I finished the season, many reviews compared Uncoupled to Sex and the City. The similarities are Darren Star, New York City, and it has a group of friends navigating life. Personally, I did not think to compare the two, and I do not agree with those reviews.
