When it comes to psychological thrillers that twist, turn, and make you question everything you thought you knew, Lisa Jewell never disappoints. None of This Is True is a dark and disturbing thrill ride that reels you in from page one and doesn’t let go.
The novel follows podcaster Alix Summers, who meets the quiet and curious Josie Fair, seemingly by coincidence, at a local pub. What begins as a casual interaction on their shared birthday soon spirals into something much more sinister. Alix is looking for a new podcast project, and Josie gives her an idea. Josie wants Alix to help tell her life story, and Alix is intrigued and sensing a good podcast, agrees. But as the interviews begin, Josie’s confessions grow darker, more puzzling, and unnervingly personal.
Lisa Jewell masterfully plays with the concept of truth, identity, and the front we present to the world. Each chapter peels back a layer, revealing just enough to keep you questioning: Who is telling the truth? Who is manipulating whom? And perhaps most chilling of all, how far will someone go to rewrite their own narrative?
Curating Edits Review
Told through a mix of traditional storytelling, podcast transcripts, and interview excerpts, the format makes the suspense even more immersive. Readers will feel like investigators themselves, piecing together a psychological puzzle where the answers are as elusive as they are shocking.
When I read this novel, this was one of those books that had you flipping pages late into the night. It’s a brilliant reminder of why Lisa Jewell has become a go-to author in the thriller genre.
