The idea to bring music into Curating Edits was in part because of the wide range of genres and artists that we listen to. Jasmine Solano is one of those individuals for us here at Curating Edits. In this post, you will find out why you too should be following her and why you should go back into the archives of her mixtapes!
Jasmine Solano Bio
Jasmine Solano is a talented DJ, Producer, Radio Host and so much more who has been making waves in the music industry for over a decade. Born in Philadelphia, Solano developed a love for music at a young age and began experimenting with DJing while in college.
Solano began gaining recognition for her unique style and infectious energy. Her ability to seamlessly blend different genres of music and create a vibe that keeps the crowd moving has made her a sought-after DJ for events and parties all over the world.
I remember watching her perform a DJ set that was streaming online, couldn’t tell you where or when it was but I remembered her. Afterward, I found her on SoundCloud, and from there to now.
As a producer, Solano has worked with artists such as Yuna, Wyclef Jean, and Questlove. Her productions are known for their eclectic mix of sounds and influences, ranging from Hip-Hop to electronic to world music. You might also have seen her on MTV on the show she founded and hosted “Scratch The Surface”.
Philanthropy & More…
If that wasn’t enough Solano remains committed to giving back to her community. She’s volunteered with organizations such as the Brooklyn Academy of Music. She is the co-founder and host of Club House Global. Uniting and helping hospitality and entertainment employees who were affected during the Covid-19 pandemic. She is also the founder of Unity In Color. Standing in solidarity for Women’s Equality and moving toward the future. You can check out their photo series and how to set one up in your city.
